Bangor Drive-In opens after 30 years

After being closed for three decades, the Bangor Drive-In is reopening and plans to show two first-run movies seven nights per week. “Rambo: First Blood Part II” was the last movie to play at the outdoor movie theater located on Outer Hammond Street (Route 2) in Hermon. Thirty years after it closed, the Bangor Drive-In was set to reopen July 1. The outdoor movie theater is run by Cinema Bangor LLC.

“I lost my first tooth while watching ‘Mary Poppins’ at the Bangor Drive-In. It was also Canada Day and we were in the old Ford LTD station wagon with my grandmother who was visiting from New Brunswick,” Bangor resident Monique Bouchard fondly recalled on the drive-in’s Facebook page. “I was 6 years old at the time.”
