BAR HARBOR — The First Friday Art Walk this Friday kicks off the art walk season in style with 22 participating establishments.

There are events in shops and galleries all over town from 6-9 p.m., including vignettes from “The Tempest” and “A Midsummers Night’s Dream” performed by the Harborside Shakespeare Company and from “We Run the Ship,” a make-your-own musical adventure for children performed by The Barn Arts Collective throughout the town.

2015 brings a new participating venue, Hush, featuring a boudoir-inspired photography art installation. While checking out this new venue, be sure to stop in at neighboring Art on West for a special show featuring John Kucera’s decoys. Known for his realistic life-sized Canada Geese, he is also remembered for his Maine loons.

Out and about town, you also will find ArtWaves, a membership-supported Community Arts Center featuring “A Ten Show,” original 10×10 art, and Choco-latte, featuring Maine native artist Katie Churchill. Spruce & Gussy’s featured artist is Maggie Bokor with her organic, elegant designs in sterling silver, semi-precious stones and pearls. Argosy Gallery will be showcasing local artist Nathan Ward’s colorful, expressionist oils.

Walking maps listing the evening’s events can be picked up at the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce on the corner of Cottage and Main streets, at any participating gallery, most lodging establishments or downloaded from www.artwalkbarharbor.com. For a great night out on the town, grab a friend and enjoy a lovely evening celebrating Bar Harbor’s Art and Fine Craft.
